Being the best you can be—that’s the goal of every golfer. Point Grey is here to help in what will surely be a life-long quest. To assist the club engaged the services of Matt Palsenbarg as its new Director of Instruction.

“It’s not every day that we get the opportunity to add someone to our team who is recognized for his role in player development at the level Matt has achieved,” says Director of Golf Dave Zibrik. “He’s operated one of the best junior development programs in Canada, and has coached players at every level of the game—from the Canadian national amateur team through to the PGA Tour. He’s one of the best and he makes our club even better.”

Palsenbarg, who was awarded the PGA of BC’s Dunc Sutherland Distinguished Service Award in 2018 and the Jack Westover Coach of the Year in 2016, joins Point Grey as the club nears completion of its newly renovated practice facility, which will be a showcase for the latest in technology and player development and officially open in the middle of 2020. The facility, which was created by leading golf architect Riley Johns, and includes the rebuilding of several holes on the club’s course, will be the first in Western Canada to utilize TrackMan Range. Through a smartphone app, TrackMan Range will provide Point Grey members with key information on every shot. The new practice facility will be under the direction of Palsenbarg, known for his ability as an outstanding player and even better coach.

Palsenbarg is well recognized for his ability to help new and competitive golfers alike, regardless of age. He previously operated the Tour Performance Lab in Vancouver, and ran one of the best junior development programs in Canada. Matt has assisted more 40 juniors golfers in securing golf scholarships to NCAA and NAIA programs.

“The opportunity to come to Point Grey at this significant time in the club’s history was too great to pass up,” says Palsenbarg. “The club’s commitment to golf instruction has few rivals in Canada, and with the new practice facility, Point Grey is establishing itself as a leader in the country. I’m thrilled to work with members and to be part of such a terrific club.”
